Supporting Your Library

Volunteering

Volunteering at the library is fun and a great way to meet the people in your community. Come in and talk to us about volunteering.

Hempstead Branch Only: We do ask that whatever organization they are volunteering with they have it in writing with all the organizations information so we can call and verify it before we approve them to volunteer.

Friends of the Brookshire- Pattison Library

Friends of the Brookshire- Pattison Library was formed for the purpose of being a support group to promote the library's activities, resources, and needs. We offer financial support for the development of library services to the community.

Through their support throughout the year, they were able to give the children enticing incentives for each week and wonderful prizes for our Summer Reading Program. Following the Summer Reading Program, they supplied 6 backpacks full of supplies for kids.

We invite you to come and join our Friends Group that way you can not only help better our library by offering new ideas but help our community as a whole by becoming part of a group that makes a difference.

Book Donation Guidelines

The library receives many thousands of donations of books and other library materials each year. Donated items that fill a need in the library collection are added, but most donations go directly to the book sale. We have learned from long experience what sells and what doesn’t. We have to be selective because of storage limitations and the labor involved in sorting so many items.

We only take donations during opening hours. Do not put them in the dropbox or by the door!!

  • The library accepts books published in the last 10 years in good to excellent condition.
